BioHo-kay. So, Jack Twist.
Born on the 40’s in ‘cowboy times’ on EUA. He meets Ennis del Mar in 1963 after leaving high school when they both got a job to take care of the sheeps from Joe Aguirre, with rodeo’s dream on his head. His mother and father are living on a ranch on some place on Wyoming. He feels kind of resented towards his father because he never taught him his secrets about rodeo.
While in Brokeback, Ennis is stationed at the base camp while Jack watches after the sheep higher on the mountain. They initially meet only for meals at the base camp, where they gradually become friends, mostly from Jack’s part, seeing how friendly and cheerful he is (‘cause damn, if it were for Ennis they wouldn’t had talked at all >->;;) .
After a time they switch roles, with Jack taking over duties at base camp and Ennis tending the flock. One night, after the two share a bottle of whiskey, Ennis decides to remain at the base camp overnight instead of returning up the mountain. Ennis is at first reluctant to even sleep in the same tent as Jack, but later that night the men share a brief, intense sexual encounter (:D).
Anyway, at first they both deny it (‘I’m not no queer’ ‘Me neither. A one-shoot thing. Nobody’s business but us.’). But after the summer there, their sexual and emotional relationship deepens further.
So they parted ways, Ennis marries Alma and have two girls, while Jack meets Lauren in Texas; marries her and have a boy, leaving the rodeo and becoming a tractor salesman.
They meet up again four years after Brokeback, finding them in a rather difficult situation because they do love each other but Ennis refuses to just leave with Jack. Jack dreamed of them scaping from Wyoming and building a small ranch for themselves.
Ennis mostly thinks this way because when he was a child there were two men living togheter near where he lived, then some homophobic people killed one of them and his father was sure to show him the body. He says that two men living togheter is not a good idea.
As the years pass, Ennis' marriage eventually ends in divorce, causing Jack to hope that this will allow he and Ennis to live together. But Ennis continues to refuse to move away from his children, and remains uncomfortable about men living together. On another trip with Ennis in the mountains, in 1983, Jack discovers that in order to keep his job, Ennis cannot meet with Jack again before November. Ennis and Jack's frustrations finally erupt into a bitter argument because Jack can’t stand their situation anymore and telling Ennis that the only goddamn thing they’ll ever have is Brokeback and end struggling that becomes a desperate embrace. However, the two men part upset.
And just a few months later Ennis got his post card announcing him that Jack died. (;-;)
